First Wireless Groupware Hits Palmtops: GroupServe Launches its Wireless-Accessible Discussion Service.

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 1999--

GroupServe, Inc., the wireless groupware application service provider, launched the wireless Palm(TM) version of its premier web discussion service, GroupVine, Friday, while versions for Nokia Communicator(TM), and Windows CE(TM) Pocket Internet Explorer will be available later this week.

GroupVine can now be accessed via wireless PDA devices with the Palm OS(TM), such as the 3Com's Palm(TM) series and the Qualcomm pdQ(TM) Smartphone. With this wireless channel of access, GroupServe has executed its first step to capture the wireless groupware market.

This wireless access will be a tremendous benefit to the mobile professional, who can now use this service to keep in touch with their work teams any time and at any place.

GroupServe launched GroupVine's beta version in September of this year, and currently has 10,000 users of the discussion service. GroupVine provides asynchronous discussions to work teams, associations, and even families. GroupServe sees their GroupVine product as an integration of the best features of mailing lists, message boards, newsgroups, forums, and e-mail.

GroupServe plans to continue its wireless track by providing GroupVine accessibility to WAP-enabled mobile phones this month. Voice access to GroupVine is also currently being developed using Motorola's latest technologies, targeted to be available by the end of the year.

"Join once, access anywhere --- this is how ubiquitous groupware should be," explained GroupServe's CTO Theodore Achacoso. "Wired is tired."

The Palm(TM) version of GroupVine is available at GroupServe's own GroupVine Desktop (www.groupvine.com), as well as many Palm-oriented web sites, such as Palm.Net(TM) (www.palm.net), Tucows.Com, Inc. (www.tucows.com), and PalmGear H.Q.(TM) (www.palmgear.com).

URLs for GroupVine Communicator and GroupVine CE will be available at the GroupVine Desktop site (www.groupvine.com). GroupVine Desktop as well as current wireless versions (Palm, Communicator, and Windows CE) are free services.

GroupServe, Inc. (www.groupserve.com) is a Washington, DC-based company with 12 employees.
